Wyoming's regulations are not "behind the times" or "lagging." It's just the opposite. Wyoming's air quality regulations are very stringent and are targeted towards the proper emissions.
companies use state of the art equipment to reduce air pollutants. Oil and natural gas employees live and work in the communities where wells are drilled. These employees take the commitment to protect the environment and the communities they are associated with seriously. Wyoming's air quality is a priority to all of us who live and work here. To suggest otherwise is irresponsible. The facts speak for themselves. But that's not the worst of it regulations are only as good as their oversight , enforcement, and indictment. If you research the subject you would discover the Environmental Protection Agency recently released a very large air quality rule as it pertains to natural gas development. Look it up and you will find how Wyoming's rules governing natural gas well emissions were plagiarized for a federal regulation. The EPA rule is almost word for word using Wyoming's rule.
Comparing development in the Pinedale area to the southern Powder River Basin is inaccurate. These two areas could not be more different in topography, geology, and weather patterns. In addition, high pressured natural gas wells drilled in the Pinedale area have a different chemical composition than oil wells drilled in the Powder River Basin. Sometimes natural gas composition can contain more volatile organic compounds (VOCs( than what would be found in the composition of oil. oil wells versus natural gas wells.
recent rule, the Bureau of Land Management has proposed similar regulations. Again, the proposal is almost identical to Wyoming's rule. Proving Wyoming is leading the way on air quality rules.
The article suggested that Wyoming's oil and gas industry does not have adequate air quality regulations outside of certain areas in the state and implied what is required in Pinedale should be required in all areas of the state for fear of non attainment designations. This assumption is flawed and could not be further from the truth.
YOU SHOUTED YOUR COMMENT IN ALL CAPS. This is hard to read and annoys readers.
Let's set the record straight on Wyoming's air quality regulation; particularly as these regulations apply to oil and natural gas development in all parts of our state. On May 27, your energy reporter stated some incorrect assumptions concerning the regulation of Wyoming's oil and gas industry ("Behind the times: Wyoming air quality regulations lag in areas with new oil development").
Wyoming's air quality regulations are among the most stringent in the nation; Wyoming has been a leader in air quality regulations in the past and continues to lead the way today. The experts in the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality Nike Classic Cortez Premium Qs Black know the proper controls to require on oil and gas facilities and continue to update the regulations when necessary and appropriate.

When it comes to regulations, one size does not fit all. The Wyoming air quality regulations are suited to each geographical area, as well as density of development. In addition, the regulations consider the chemical compositions being produced and how those chemical compositions react when produced. Not all compounds when produced are volatile and air borne. These particular regulations were originally created for high pressured natural gas wells in the western half of the state, not for oil wells in the eastern part of the state. The WDEQ is deciding what controls are proper for the development in the Powder River Basin, using chemistry and production reports to ensure the proper regulations are in place. Simply requiring regulations as required in the Pinedale area for natural gas wells would not be appropriate for wells producing oil. Nike Cortez Price Usa
Behind the times? Lagging? Wyoming is doing it right. We have great air quality in Wyoming, and we have oil and gas development. They do not have to be exclusive of each other. Petroleum Association of Wyoming member Nike Cortez Yellow Red
As such, the WDEQ has properly assigned various regulations.
