"Colby's doing a good job, and I think Tommy's making some better progress," Wyoming head coach Craig Bohl said on Wednesday.
"I love getting out of the pocket and trying to make a play with my feet," Thornton said. "Right now, especially when it's controlled and I know I'm not going to get hit, I'm working on staying in there a little more and working my reads and progressions. But I do think that is a weapon.

"You know, that's a little different. It's strange," Thornton said. "Now we're worried about, can we get our motion in? Can we get our shift in? We've got two or three moving parts before the snap even happens.
"If someone comes free, I do have the ability to make him miss and either get some yards with my legs or make a throw down the field."

Each day presents a new obstacle for Thornton and the Wyoming quarterbacks, as the defense installs more exotic blitzes and the offense operates in red zone, two minute and 3rd and long situations.
"It's challenging. The defense is doing a great job, and coming from every which angle," Thornton said. "So as an offense, where starting to get the hang of it understanding where our hot routes are, understanding which guy is going to be blocked.
this summer, the 6 foot 1, 205 pound quarterback is adjusting to the complexities of a new scheme.
the sophomore seems to have situated himself as Wyoming's No. 2 quarterback behind redshirt senior Colby Kirkegaard.
"This year there's a half dozen things we're looking at. So really mastering my reads and keys before the snap each play, that's my biggest thing right now, just working on the mental side of the game."
Whereas Kirkegaard seems to be the quarterback with the most sound grasp of Wyoming's offense, Thornton touts a shiftiness that his fellow competitors don't possess.
"As a quarterback, we have to shift the running back to the side where we want them to be. So it is a big thinking game, with the blitz and the red zone, knowing where the ball needs to go."We provide this community forum for readers to exchange ideas and opinions on the Nike Cortez Girl news of the day. But where there has been plenty of change, there has also been improvement.
Tom Thornton is working on the game before the snap.
"The biggest thing is just knowing where to go with the football," Thornton said. "Last year, we had one thing we were looking at. We had to identify one person, and that was our throw.
The intricate details of the scheme are currently Thornton's biggest concern, rather than any physical or technique flaw.

And more specifically, that means more pre snap reads and shifts than ever before. Whereas last year the Cowboys would snap the football with an excess of time on the play clock, Thornton said jamming a huddle as well as motions and shifts into the allotted time has been a new and considerable challenge.

Wyoming QB Thornton adjusting to complexities of Cowboy offense
"It's a different kind of quick. We have to be quick in and out of the huddle, and then we can motion and align the way we need to to be in the best play possible. Seeing the play clock at three or four seconds instead of 25 seconds is a little different, but we're getting used to it."
Even so, he's trying to focus in fall camp on areas of improvement, rather than his previous strengths.
