Hill on Tuesday questioned why the Legislature is spending more money on the investigation.
when the full Legislature is not in session, council member Sen. Eli Bebout, R Riverton, voiced concerns about the time and money the investigation could consume.
CHEYENNE The state Legislature's Management Council has unanimously approved spending $100,000 to hire a lawyer to help in the investigation of state schools Superintendent Cindy Hill's management of the Wyoming Department of Education.
A special House committee is investigating Hill's administration of the state Education Department during the last two years. Depending on its findings, the committee investigation could recommend that the full House of Representatives initiate impeachment proceedings against Hill.

"We're trying to get this thing done and to get it done in a hurry and as cheaply as possible," Lubnau, R Gillette, said.
Former state Attorney General Bruce Salzburg will serve as lead special counsel.
I could not agree more about the waste of public funds. Did we not hire a lawyer who produced the first report. Then a director and his staff, and now another Lawyer to add to a law which for all practical purposes should have never been established in the first place. Kind of like we're doing this to save face, when the egg is already in place. Ego's are running the show and power not in service to the people of Wyoming but to achieve anything to save face. Why have it done before the end of the year, because next year is election day. Gee I wonder if the Governor, Director of Eduction and legislators will go bye bye. Wyoming people can vote and vote they will, so if Hill wasn't doing the right things, she'd be gone. Now though this can of worms has back fired and some people are sweating the heat and to those men an women what goes around usually comes back it is called the truth. Through this whole mess not one shred of truth has truly surface.
it active the day her term ended. How could they not see this massive train wreck coming. But on the other hand, what can you expect from a bunch of ranchers, lawyers, and insurance agents who know little if anything about education?
The House opened the investigation after a recent inquiry reported a number of issues with how Hill managed the agency, including possible misuse of federal funds. Matt Mead.
But, the Legislature should have also waited to change the responsibilities of the office until she was out of office. They could have passed all of the legislation and made Nike Cortez Mens Vintage

House Speaker Tom Lubnau, who chairs the special investigation committee, said that he doesn't have a timeline for how long the investigation will take but that he hopes it will be done by the end of the year and without additional money.
The special counsel is needed because the Legislative Service Office has limited staff and investigative powers, Lubnau said.
Hill, also a Republican, is challenging the constitutionality of the law and a decision is pending from the Wyoming Supreme Court on her lawsuit to overturn it.
I don't agree with Cindy Hill very much but on this issue I do, when is enough enough? During the last legislative session all we heard was how broke the state was and agencies cut budgets 4 8%. Then we create more bureaucracy in the Dept of education by stripping duties from the Superintendents position and creating a new Director of Education, all with a full staff. Then the Gov. decides to cover his butte and conducts an investigation into the Superintendent, couple of 100, 000. Then Lubnau and company decide they need to impeach her and to do so they need to do a further investigation. Then they will have to have a special session to hear the evidence and impeach her which could take several weeks. By then it will be November and she will be gone. So why all this expense???? At least Sen Bebout questioned the expenditure. It would be nice to know how each of the management council voted on this expenditure. I think this is all about preventing Hill from suing the state after she leaves office. They need to have something solid and legal in order to derail any potential court case. I agree that she did a horrible job as Supt. She has actually taken the state backwards with her ego driven power trip. But so did Blankenship and McBride. We should have elected Massie. We wouldn't be in this mess. Nike Cortez Calgary
