The answer came back with good news sort of.
WRI advised Wyoming to "think small in a big way."
"Properly scaled" means small, not the billion dollar plant pictured by some hopeful people in the state.
The institute was charged with studying "whether a commercial scale facility would be economically viable in Wyoming given projected energy prices and regulatory trends," according to WRI materials.
WRI was asked to study if that remote gas could be turned into much more transportable liquid that wouldn't require a pipeline, but could be shipped to market in a tanker on already existing roads.
Researchers found that it is "technologically, logistically economically and legally feasible" Nike Cortez Hyper Blue to build what they called a "properly scaled" plant in Wyoming.
"We suspected that often people were thinking we have a bigger resource than we do," he said. "The amount of gas needed for even a small plant is quite large. There is not enough gas in Wyoming to justify spending $26 billion for a facility."

He added that "the next step is to see if any companies out there are interested in pursuing in this kind of scale, and I think the answer is probably yes."
YOU SHOUTED YOUR COMMENT IN ALL CAPS. This is hard to read and annoys readers.
The largest such facility in the world is the Shell Pearl GTL (gas to liquid) plant in Qatar. Shell invested $20 billion in partnership with the Middle East nation to build the plant. But it has access to huge undersea resources of natural gas close to the shore of Qatar.

Wyoming can economically turn natural gas into gasoline
Rob Hurless, deputy director of the School of Energy Resources at UW and an energy strategist for Gov. Matt Mead, praised the effort to find a way to add value to Wyoming's natural gas resource. "There's always been a level of interest about how do we add value," he said.
Sethi echoed that optimism. Passionate views, pointed criticism and critical thinking are welcome. Name calling, crude language and personal abuse are not welcome. The report pointed out creative ways of thinking small, such as using control systems to manage smaller modular plants from a remote location. The report found that a central facility can service modular synthesis reactors and gas clean up modules. "These and other similar concepts Nike Cortez Trainers White
doesn't have enough natural gas for such a plant.
Turning natural gas into gasoline could be a profitable business in Wyoming on a small scale, according to a study commissioned by the state Legislature in 2012. And companies are looking into future projects, according to an energy researcher and also a deputy director of the University of Wyoming School of Energy Resources.
Lawmakers paid for a study by Laramie based Western Research Institute (WRI) to develop ways to add value to Wyoming's natural gas resource by possibly turning it into liquid transportation fuels and chemicals such as gasoline and diesel. The source of the gas would be so called stranded natural gas, remote enough from a pipeline that building an infrastructure to get to it can't be justified.

But, Sethi said, Wyoming Cortez Black Leather
report acknowledged that Wyoming wasn't going to have a Qatar sized facility. But Sethi said instead of trying to match the 140,000 barrels of gasoline a day produced in Qatar, "what you do is build smaller modular plants at the scale of 500 to 1,000 barrels a day. If there's not the money or resource to support a large plant, you have to think small," he said.
Dr. Vijay Sethi, the lead researcher, said that what's new in this study is the focus on using new technology and techniques to build much smaller plants than the kind normally considered. The fact that investments can be several billion dollars to make gas to liquid facilities has caused planners to consider large facilities that would give enough return on such a big investment.
and strategies make distributed GTL conversion possible in remote locations," according to the report.
