Wyoming State High School Wrestling Championships with a chance to win a fourth state title. It's a feat that only 14 previous wrestlers have accomplished in the 68 year history of the Wyoming state tournament.Meredith will compete at 138 pounds; Lewton at 132.Never a doubtThere aren't too many sure things in sports, but Meredith standing atop the podium on Saturday is as close as it gets. The senior, who has already signed with North Carolina State, enters the state tournament with a two year unbeaten streak against in state competition."I think it would take everything lining up just right for someone to beat me at state," Meredith said. "To be in this position isn't a surprise because this has been my goal forever. When I make my mind up to do something, I will do whatever it takes to make that goal come true."Meredith won his first state title for Central at 103, earning a 4 0 decision against Mitch Heap from Star Valley in the championship match. He added titles at 113 as a sophomore and at 132 last year. For Meredith, it was just a natural progression."I think for the most part I had things figured out before I stepped on to the high school mat," said Meredith, who regularly competed against and beat high school wrestlers when he was still in eighth grade. "But as the season goes on and my mental approach gets better, my confidence increases. I just try to correct every little thing to create winning."Central coach Bryce Leonhardt, who won two state titles at Natrona County, believes that Meredith has reached a level that few wrestlers achieve."Bryce has put himself in a different class by doing a lot of extra work," Leonhardt said. "He's made a 12 month commitment to the sport of wrestling, and he's got a lot of talent. So it's a combination of those things that has put him in this position."Early in his career, he just went out there and wrestled. Now it's pre determined in his mind that this is how I'm going to attack a specific wrestler. He just goes out there and imposes his will on whoever he Nike Cortez Vintage Suede wrestles."That was evident three weeks ago when Meredith dominated the competition en route to winning his third title at the prestigious Ron Thon Memorial Invitational. Meredith pinned his first three opponents and then controlled the action from the start in earning a 20 5 technical fall against Kelly Walsh's Tannar Galey, a former state champion, in the title match. While Meredith knows he'll compete on the college level and hopefully beyond, his sole focus for now is on this weekend. After all, it's been years in the making."Winning a fourth state title would put a bow on my high school and junior wrestling career," Meredith said. "It would mean everything for all the 13 years I've put into this sport."The Road WarriorWhile Meredith was always confident in his ability to win four state titles, Lewton is still trying to figure out how he got in this position."Winning four state titles was never even in my dreams," Lewton said. "My freshman year, my teammates told me I was ranked first in the state and I had no idea what they were talking about."That didn't stop Lewton from winning at 103 as a freshman, at 113 as a sophomore and at 126 last year. Lewton is aware of the talk now, even if he would gladly trade his personal glory for a team championship."Winning a fourth title would be nice, but all I want is for my team to come out on top," he said.Lewton has had plenty of time to think about both possibilities. He lives on his family ranch 23 miles south of Ten Sleep and attends high school there. Then, after school, he drives the 24 miles to Worland to wrestling practice. Afterward, he drives home to complete the 94 mile round Blue Nike Cortez Tumblr
